The Lake Geneva Public Library is a gem.
The library has one of the most unique and picturesque locations of all other libraries in the Midwest. The library was designed by Frank Dresser, a protégé of Frank Loyd Wright. The building sits in the beautiful Library Park with a prime view of Geneva Lake. The library is loved by so many, and it needs to be celebrated. On June 6, 1894, Mrs. Mary Sturges deeded, with certain stipulations and previsions, this lake shore property to the city of Lake Geneva to be held for the purpose a public park. This is now Library Park and home of the Lake Geneva Public Library. The library was built in 1954 making this year its 70th anniversary and the 130th anniversary when the lakefront stretch of land was given to the city. This is a big deal, and the library board members and staff agree. The anniversary celebration is being planned. The Library Anniversary Committee met last week to discuss the big anniversary. The Anniversary Celebration is expected sometime in 2025. Until then make it a point to enjoy this wonderful library and its friendly and helpful staff.
