THE BRIGHT SIDE
More livestream cameras are coming to the lakefront in Lake Geneva.
The tourism committee approved a grant to install three more cameras by the city’s request. Does the current livestream camera get watched enough to justify adding three more? A visitor had lost an item while they were by the Riviera and were able to find it by watching the livestream so it can be helpful, at times, but is that interest and effect enough to spend more money on such things?
The new cameras will be located at the west end piers hoping this will help the police watch for violators of the piers and boats, of which there are no reports this summer. There have been many complaints over the years about all the damage done to these boats and piers and the large sum of money it takes to fix them, even though, apparently, the police never seem to be called to these events nor write written reports about them.
There will be one livestream camera facing out over the Riviera Beach towards the water and shoreline but not (supposedly) aimed at the beachgoers. There will be a third camera that will go in at either the boat launch or possibly Flat Iron Park. No final decisions were made about placement of the cameras so more information will be released at the upcoming tourism commission meetings.
