THE BRIGHT SIDE

More development is coming to Delavan.
The City of Delavan Common Council approved several new businesses to be located in the heart of the shopping area off Highway 50. The largest development, and by far the biggest project, is a new apartment complex at the intersection of Phoenix Street and Faryl Avenue near the Goodwill store.

The development will be called Falcon Ridge Apartments featuring two buildings of luxury upscale apartment living to the tune of $1100-$2200 per month. Floor plans will include one, two, three, and four bedrooms, with one and two bathrooms, along with options that include a loft area. Two buildings are proposed with 77 units each for a total of 154 units which will include 24-hour maintenance with onsite management, playground, picnic areas, community room with an outdoor patio and grills, fitness center, walking trails, underground parking, and lots of green space.

Cardinal Engineering spoke at the meeting stating that several similar complexes in surrounding communities have done very well and have a waiting list to get in. They also commented that this new complex will help the city diversify its stock of apartments. The development is scheduled to break ground in late fall or early spring. The next approval from the City of Delavan was a conditional use permit to tear down the former Perkins Restaurant and replace it with a brand-new building that will be home to a new Qdoba and Noodles and Company. Both will offer patio seating and drive-through windows.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe has also received approval to open in the old GameStop location in front of Walmart. They offer a variety of food and smoothies focusing on using fresh fruits and veggies.
