Little Gems
A reckless driver took out stop lights, ran over a parking lot meridian, landscaping, and almost ran right into the Dollar Tree storefront.
Saturday night at approximately 10:30 p.m., a reckless and intoxicated female driver, ran over the control box at the Interchange North stop-light. The lights at this intersection will be nonfunctional until the control box, which suffered severe damage, can be fixed or replaced. The driver continued on through the parking lot damaging landscaping and creating quite a mess and barely stopping before hitting the store-front of the Dollar Tree. On a positive note, no other vehicles were involved, or hit, and no injuries resulted from this incident. The intoxicated female was arrested, and repairs are being made. The entire mess will be cleaned up shortly.

Rivera Complex roof and renovations repair.
The Riviera is still waiting for the long-overdue repairs and renovations to be decided upon and then started. The MSI corporation was at this last week’s meeting to present and discuss the Riviera’s issues, including the scan MSI still needs of the second floor, and the upcoming posting of this large scale job on September 1st, and the fast-approaching date of September 15th when all proposals are due. The roof is first on the list of projects to be tackled, but the decision on what materials to use is still undecided. When the Riviera complex was originally built it in 1932 it had a clay tile roof but in the eighties, the roof was redone and the clay tiles were replaced with concrete tiles. The concrete tiles are much heavier than the clay tiles and have caused multiple problems. When those issues are combined with an overall lack of maintenance the roof’s current condition is understandable. There is also still discussion surrounding whether the roof could be simply repaired and not replaced in its entirety. So it’s back to the drawing board for repair estimates to be collected. The Riviera elevator is another unresolved issue. The questions are; should it be relocated or stay where it is, and should it be replaced or repaired? The Riviera is a vital fixture in Lake Geneva and some loving attention is long overdue. Maybe the crazy Eight Ball has some answers to these big issues.
