Living Here
The Riviera Restoration Ad Hoc Committee was established in an effort to be the brainstorming group and an advocate for the iconic historic Riviera.
The committee has worked at narrowing down ideas and presenting them to the city council for final decisions on the progress and direction of the restoration. The restoration and improvements at the Riviera are finally making progress, and the final interior product is starting to become visible. With completion nearing, ideas of uses and events are being discussed.
In past years (decades ago) the Riviera had a grand reopening celebration every spring, and that was considered a big social event. Mayor Klein has brought up the idea of resurrecting this tradition. Of course, the ballroom will be rented, as always before, for wonderful weddings and other grand events including more events open to the public and catering to the locals in any event. The Ad Hoc Committee is also planning on hosting an open house for the community, to result in the revealing of the completed restoration of the Riviera. The ideas are all still in the discussion and planning stages, but grandness is sure to be in the Riviera’s and the city’s near future.
Four Seasons Nature Preserve at 1875 County Road H is another of Lake Geneva’s beautiful parks.
This park offers a slice of paradise only Wisconsin can offer. This park includes hiking, a pond, a shelter, a boardwalk, an overlook tower, and a dog park area near the entrance to the park. The Lake Geneva Park Board does a great job keeping Lake Geneva’s parks maintained for all to enjoy. The Avian Committee is also a big part of working with park issues and is interested in improving the signage for the nature preserve. The Avian Committee would like to work with the park board and the Geneva Lake conservancy. Native plants are a staple in creating a nature preserve that can thrive and is true to the area. The Avian committee utilizes the parks and hosts different events as well as educational programs to highlight and educate others on the wonderful and diverse groups of birds that call Lake Geneva home. If you haven’t been to the Four Seasons Nature preserve you should check it out. For more information on avian events, go to the Lake Geneva Bird City Facebook page.
Speaking of Potholes….
Traveling south on Edwards Blvd. in front of the entrance to Target and Home Depot heading towards route 50. We at the GSR are hoping that the powers that be have noticed the car-sized holes that have opened up during this recent thaw. For those traveling the road please take extra care until the street department can repair these cars killing holes. Stay in the left lane if possible or be prepared to buy some new tires or maybe worse.
