LITTLE GEMS
Where the music in the background (and sometimes foreground) is generally good, or at least acceptable.
(Admittedly, upfront, this short bit of an article is biased because it requires the opinion of the paper’s staff.)
Speedos, Great Eggs, Starbucks, and the Thrift Inn, play some great music. Outside of Lake Geneva, there’s the Niche Coffee shop at the entrance to Geneva National (especially when Greg’s on), the Coffee Mill in Fontana, and Box and Burlap located at the corner of Highway 67 and 50. Those places are never playing the background music loudly, either. If you want to have coffee, work on your computer, write, simply socialize or be alone, then those are the places to inhabit on a regular basis. Where’s food still cheap and good to get in this inflated marketplace? Try The Elk or Vasili’s in Elkhorn, Great Eggs and Culvers in Lake Geneva, Daddy Maxwells in Williams Bay, and Sammy’s in Walworth. Oh, and never ever forget Elizabeth’s in Delavan (the old people’s menu is to die for, and they don’t even make you prove your age…just tell them you forgot your I.D. and they’ll take that as proof).
National Night Out for Walworth County is back and better than ever!

This event is free and for anyone to enjoy. Come and celebrate a night out against crime and in support of all of our firemen, EMT personnel, and police.
Lake Life Market at 607 West Main Street is open!
The wonderful Beth Tumas, owner and operator of the very popular Bottle Shop and Grapevine Theater has added to her list of thriving businesses. They now include a convenient little ‘bodega’ style market to the complex. The Lake Life Market was created after Lilly Pots Flower Shop downsized and the space became available. Beth came to believe that there was a need for a market downtown. Lake Life Market was born and now includes convenience store items, gift items, grab-and-go food items, including frozen pizza. How many times have visitors coming to Lake Geneva and touring the town needed things like Tylenol or band-aids, or items forgotten when packing for a weekend in town, like a toothbrush? Now those needed items are available right in the heart of downtown Lake Geneva. Even more convenient is the availability of a simple cup of coffee and donut on a Sunday morning after a late Saturday night in Lake Geneva. Beth does a great job at everything she does, and the Lake Life Market is sure to be as terrific as her other businesses there.
