Jackson Chourio and Ryan Braun now stand alone in rare Brewers history. It can’t be understated how special a player Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio is. Chourio is in his third season in the majors, and yet he’s just 22 years old. The young Brewers outfielder missed some time to begin the 2026 season, but he has been excellent since he was activated off the Injured List. Chourio has played in 101 games and is slashing .281/.342/.478 with an .820 OPS, 20 home runs, 56 RBIs, 14 stolen bases, 37 walks, 22 doubles and 69 runs scored. Chourio hit his 20th homer of the season in a 5-3 victory over the Texas Rangers on Saturday night.
He is the 17th player to put together three 20-homer seasons before turning 23 years old. Chourio is the second player in franchise history to accomplish the feat, joining Ryan Braun (2007-09). Any time you can have your name up there with Braun in Brewers history, you’re doing something right. Plus, Chourio is younger than Braun was when he kicked off his career in Milwaukee and tore it up. Chourio appreciated the magnitude of the accomplishment even though he didn’t necessarily have a particular player he looked up to most while growing up in Venezuela. He was too busy playing the game instead. The Brewers understood what they had in Chourio in 2023, when they signed him to an eight-year, $82 million contract when he was a 19-year-old who hadn’t yet reached the big leagues. He has proved his value ever since. Chourio’s rapid rise has made him one of the Brewers’ most popular players.
Milwaukee won its fourth straight game Saturday and has the best record in the major leagues as the Brewers chase their first World Series title. Chourio has already shown a knack for thriving in October in his brief career, as he has hit .341 with four homers and 11 RBIs in 12 career postseason games.
The Milwaukee Bucks.
Even with the official start of training camp looming about a month away, almost the entire Milwaukee Bucks roster was seen linking up and working out together at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Of the 19 players currently under contract, 18 made the trip to Texas. Sure, a couple of Bucks players always tend to link up in the summers, but to see almost the entire roster not only bonding, but working out and training for the upcoming season together is a sign that unity will be paramount for this group entering the 2026-27 NBA season. Milwaukee Bucks rookies Brayden Burries and Nate Ament were among the players on hand at this workout. It might not seem like that big of a deal, but establishing chemistry in the offseason bodes incredibly well for what will unfold down the stretch of the season. With the Bucks undergoing a drastic overhaul after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo, the session was likely one of the first opportunities for the team to be together on the court, giving them a chance to begin building chemistry before training camp opens next month.
From the front office to the coaching staff, the trainers, and most importantly, the players are bought into the idea of reshaping that culture and building a winning environment off the combined hard work, selflessness, and understanding that in today’s NBA, you need to be connected to your team to win. Burries and Ament arrive in Milwaukee, expected to help usher in a new era following the departure of Antetokounmpo. The Bucks have been pleased with their recent changes and are hopeful of having a strong 2026-27 season.
The Green Bay Packers.
The Packers are adding some running back insurance with three-time Pro Bowler Josh Jacobs’ future uncertain. Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was placed on the commissioner exempt list Sunday. The move comes three days after Jacobs was formally charged with two misdemeanors stemming from an alleged incident with a woman in May. It means Jacobs will not be on the Packers’ 53-man roster and cannot practice or attend games. He will be paid and, with the team’s permission, is allowed to be at the facility for meetings, individual workouts, medical treatments, and other non-football activities. The NFL has said it is still reviewing Jacobs’ case. His initial court appearance is Nov. 17, but the league does not have to wait for the legal process to be completed before issuing discipline. Jacobs was charged with misdemeanor battery and criminal property damage.
The team traded for Steelers RB Kaleb Johnson in exchange for a 2028 sixth-round pick on Sunday, Pittsburgh announced. Johnson’s relocation to Green Bay provides a fresh start for the maligned third-round pick, as well as a potential opportunity to see snaps. Kaleb Johnson, if Jacobs is suspended, could see time as a featured back, but it will be a tandem of Johnson and MarShawn Lloyd in the backfield if Jacobs has to miss time. Following the trade between the Steelers and Packers, Kaleb Johnson took to Instagram to send a message to the Packers faithful. Johnson’s message: “Let’s do it,” @Packers.
