Walworth County Fair.  The 170th Walworth County Fair starts TODAY, Wednesday, August 28th, and runs through Monday, September 2nd. This is the oldest and largest county fair in Wisconsin and a favorite of many for so many great reasons. There will be much to do, as usual, including a huge carnival with rides and games, barns with a variety of 4-H exhibits and live animals, food vendors from far and near, entertainment at every turn, a variety of indoor exhibits, and so much more. The Walworth County Fair is a big deal for many as it is the last hoorah before school starts.  It is also just a grand place to hang out and simply watch all the people who come to enjoy the place and have a great time.

Geneva Lake Environmental Agency and the Starry Stonewort:
The infestation isn’t going anywhere fast, and in fact, everyone hopes that it will move very slowly, although it would be hard for the plant to move slower than the GLEA, DNR and Trinke Estates combined. The meeting of the Geneva Lakes Environmental Agency is scheduled to begin on Thursday, August 29th, at 6:30 p.m. in the Lowery Hall at the George Williams College. This is a continuance of the meeting held two weeks ago regarding the Starry Stonewort invasive species that has been found in the lake. Maybe this is the place and time when the assembly of all those concerned can finally come to a decision about what course of action needs to be taken and when the work to get rid of this potentially lake-killing infestation can begin.
