Little Gems

The Walworth County Fairgrounds is doing something new and festive this year called “Let it Glow.”
This event was created to provide people with a safe holiday experience and to bring some cheer (lost to the virus) back into the local communities. Immediately following the Elkhorn tree lighting, events then move to the fairgrounds for a half-mile drive-thru festival of lights, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday the 4th of December. Children are encouraged to bring a letter to Santa, as there will be a special mailbox with express service set up to run straight to the North Pole. There will also be more than twenty whimsical holiday stations, music, and a Santa Claus booth.  A special appearance will be made by the holly jolly man in red himself.

There will definitely be a spark of magic flickering through the night and the excitement of Christmas will fill the air. Guests must remain in their vehicles while in the fairgrounds. The entrance will be on Rotary Way off of Market Street (between the middle school and high school) in downtown Elkhorn.

Santa and his reindeer are making an early appearance right in the middle of downtown Lake Geneva.
On Saturday, December 5th, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., Santa, Mrs. Claus, and two of their reindeer will be out front at the Riviera Pier Complex to meet and greet any children who show up. Saturday, December 12th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., they will be at 270 Broad St, which is at the intersection of Geneva Street and Broad.  Make sure to bring a camera or cell phone to take pictures. Santa will also be strolling through downtown Lake Geneva on December 5th, 6th, 12th, 13th, and 19th. He’ll stop to visit all children, listen to wishes, and also have his picture taken with anyone who want to be seen with him.  Social distancing will be practiced, and Santa will have a mask on, as should anyone visiting with him.

You can also catch Santa at his special workshop at Popeye’s Restaurant, located in downtown Lake Geneva at 811 Wrigley Drive. Don’t worry, the elves are still hard at work at the North Pole while Santa visits.

The citizens of East Troy are starting a new tradition to help keep families safe and happy this holiday season.
This December, from the 5th to the 31st, they will launch “East Troy Lights,” which is a new holiday tradition that will transport visitors to a dazzling display of lights, taking advantage of the backdrop of the historic East Troy Village Square. The interactive and creative light display will continue, with timed shows (on the hour) from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. With the help of a cellphone, you will also be able to try making your own light show. There will be a light show stimulator for kids to try and make their own scripts for the East Troy Square.
