Parts of the White River Trail are still closed due to cleanup from last week’s storms.
The section of the White River State Trail between County Road NN and Spring Valley Road is now open. This area had been previously impassable due to downed trees and debris from the July 3 storms. The section of the White River State Trail between County Road NN and County Road H remains closed as crews continue to work on clean-up operations. Thank you to the Walworth County Snowmobile Alliance for their assistance in clearing the trail and reopening this section for public use.
Join Yerkes for a special open-house experience on Friday, July 31st, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The staff is pleased to welcome The Wonders of Physics outreach team from the UW-Madison Department of Physics, where they’ll be providing a family-friendly and engaging physics demonstration show to kick off the evening. Following the Wonders of Physics show, the observatory will be open for your chance to explore our exhibits, check out some more fascinating physics demonstrations, and see the world’s largest refracting telescope in person.
Check-in begins at 5:45 p.m. at the observatory’s south entrance. The Wonders of Physics show will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., and then everyone is free to explore the observatory until 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the Yerkes website.
Five days of good food, good music, and good times for the entire family.
Elkhorn Ribfest has BBQ Champions and Backyard Grillers competition, a great lineup of entertainment, an artisan village, a carnival for the kids, and so much more. This five-day event opens Wednesday, July 15th at 3 p.m. until 11 p.m., Thursday through Saturday gates open at 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., and Sunday, July 19th concludes the event, opening at 11 a.m. and closing at 9 p.m.
Place of the Week

Immanuel Lutheran Church on Bloomfield Road is hosting the Journey Disaster Response Team. They are helping with the cleanup after the July 4th storm.
