Little Gems

The committee met.
About the coming closure of the Riviera next winter. The argument and discussion were all about what repairs need to be made, from windows to roof to the ‘tucking’ between the bricks on the exterior. The one thing that was not discussed, well actually two, was about what repurposing is going to be done to the structure to take it into the modern era. The redo of the Riviera has been on (or under) the table for almost a year. What is the intent of Lake Geneva leadership in repurposing this classic iconic structure? The other thing that was not discussed was how to pay for it. At one time the TIFF existed to allow Lake Geneva to share tax distributions from the communities surrounding but using the city facilities. The TIFF is gone, done away with by people who don’t want taxes to pay for much of anything. Now what? What do they want to do? Why can’t they share their ideas? Where’s the money going to come from?
