Little Gems

 The Lake Geneva Utility Commission
is in the early stages of developing a plan to participate in the Youth Apprenticeship Program with the Department of Workforce Development. The commission was approached by the Elkhorn Area High School about a student that is interested in this line of work and asked to partner with the commission in order to offer the student the opportunity to receive hands-on training. The student would earn minimum wage while in the program, which would require the student to work 450 hours from the beginning until August 2020. The city already has 480 hours of seasonal help budgeted for 2019 and 2020, of which none has been used since no extra help was hired. The city could put those funds toward the apprenticeship. The committee as a whole was very excited about the opportunity and looks forward to getting the program in place.

The Santa Cruise.
This great Gage Marine ride is coming back to beautiful Geneva Lake. This wonderful family-friendly tradition is always looked forward to. Families will enjoy holiday light displays while sailing along on their journey to Santa’s hideaway, all the while riding a historic boat decked out with twinkling lights, holiday music and plenty of cheer. The boat is enclosed and heated to keep everyone comfortable during the journey. While enjoying the boat ride the guests will hear the story about how Santa and his helpers use Lake Geneva as his summer home and even test toys right here in Lake Geneva. Once the boat reaches Santa’s hideaway he will emerge and call each child by name. Tours depart from Pier 290 every evening from November 29th to January 4th beginning at 4:30. Book your cruise now before tickets and time runs out.
