LITTLE GEMS

Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is coming home.
Having surrendered to superior forces in his bid to become a viable presidential candidate.  Whether he will return to Wisconsin and continue his dead earnest, and newly admitted, crusade against teachers and any city, county or state employee who has a pension plan, or is a member of any union, is a matter of conjecture.  Maybe he will go back to college so that he would never again face a slate of other candidates, while in possession of no educational credentials or qualification at all.  No matter what happens upon this beloved governor’s triumphant return through clouds of ashes, he will receive a warm welcome from so many.  If he returns to college to finally get his degree, he will probably choose to attend an institution located in another state.

Ron Carstensen
Ron Carstensen is the man pilloried so that people like Dan Winkler, Dennis Jordan and Jim Connors could remain out of prison, was involved in a head on auto accident on Highway H last week.  He’s okay, although his pickup truck was totaled.  He wasn’t at fault in the accident, but then the Walworth County Court might have to review that decision like they did the Pillar of Salt investigation results.  Ron is a quality guy treated badly by an entire community that should owe him a whole lot for his many wonderful years of service.  There is justice in the universe, but it’s only available in small, rare pockets of that universe.  Lake Geneva has not been one of those pockets for Ron.

Tristan Crist is coming to Lake Geneva with his Magic TheaterTristan Crist Magic Theater
This place should be wonderful indeed, going into the space on the corner of Highway 50 across from the museum, and between the new wine store and Lily Pots Flower Shop.  A noodle joint is going in down where Sears bailed out of by the BP station on Highway 50.  The planning commission agreed to allow two restaurants, and two new retail places, plus sixty parking spaces behind where the old Sears was located.  People visiting these concerns will have to use Peller Road, which runs north and south in front of that BP station. Things could be a bit tight in summer.  Bistro 220 is ‘no more’ on Baker Street. The owner is headed for Florida and the planning commission on Monday approved converting the building into “commercial indoor lodging.”  Those are like rental condos.  Keefe has one of those on the corner of Wrigley above where the old bookstore was located.

New Brew Shop Coming?

New Brew Shop Lake Geneva

Mystery brewery is to go into the space being vacated by The Boatyard Bagel Shop on Main Street. Neither Mike Kocourek the owner of the property or Gary the Keefe realtor putting the deal together are talking so it must be a big deal indeed. Micro brewery. The rage these days. Hopefully, it will be great one.
