As almost everyone can observe and feel, the season is changing.
Fall is here, and with the beautiful weather, it’s hard to believe. The warmer-than-usual temperatures are making the season very easy to enjoy. Lake Geneva is just starting its fall colors. That is about to change as the fall colors are going to really start showing up and are expected to peak in the last week of October.
The wonderful Lake Geneva offers so many great ways to enjoy the vibrant colors. Looking out across the lake gives a splendid view of all the different colors and shades of autumn. The lake also has the best walking path that goes around the lake and has some of the most beautiful old trees along the shore that display the colors well. Get out and enjoy the colors before the leaves all fall and the cold weather really sets in. No matter where you go around the lake to soak in the beauty, you are sure to be pleased.
Flocking you softly with its song…
There are six Lake Geneva Police Department Flock camera systems in the city. They are all situated on Main Street to take in the license plates (and therefore the owners) of vehicles passing from Center Street to Wrigley/Cook, or what they call the corridor through town. There are three other ‘private’ Flock devices: one at Walgreens, one at Fairfield, and two at Home Depot.
If you want complete privacy from these devices, you have to either have a corporate license plate (100 bucks in Wisconsin for an LLC) or drive around Lake Geneva. Those machines also read Bluetooth and Wi-Fi identities in order to develop a full identity of the driver, which is really what they are after. If you want complete identity protection, then you must have a corporate plate and turn off your Bluetooth and Wi-Fi before entering the town. The police are trusted in Lake Geneva and are subject to very restrictive rules about the gathering and use of the data they collect. There are no rules for the private devices…and, of course, since Flock maintains ownership of the devices (they are leased) and the data they store, they can do what they might want to with it.
The Geneva Lakes Antique & Classic Boat Show takes place September 26–27, 2026, at The Abbey Marina in Fontana.
Presented by the Blackhawk Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society, the show features an exceptional collection of antique, classic, and vintage boats from Geneva Lake, the Midwest, and across the country. Stroll the harbor, admire beautifully preserved boats, and celebrate the craftsmanship and history of classic boating. Admission is free. A boat parade is also scheduled for Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Big Al Wetzel will be live Saturday and Sunday at noon. Food and drinks will be offered waterside.
