LIVING HERE

The city is working on winter preparations all over town.
Road work is getting done and wrapped up before winter. Maintenance of what can and or needs to be done is on the list and being worked on all over city property. Hydrant flushing is one of these things; fall flushing began on Monday and will be ongoing until done. Curbside leaf and brush pickup begin soon. Monday, October 4th, at 6 a.m. City crews will continue this service through November 24th. Any brush piled at the curb after the trucks have been passed a house and through the area will not be picked up if not at the curb on time, so it is your responsibility to clear the brush and roadway. The city has a brush collection area on Carey Street. Once the brush pick-up is done it’s time for the city trucks to get prepared for snow and ice control so just stand by.  That time is fast approaching.

Fall is officially upon us, and Halloween is making its debut everywhere you look.
A great event to celebrate fall and the spirit of Halloween is the Lake Geneva Ghost Walk. Discover the haunted history of downtown Lake Geneva on a walking tour starting in Seminary Park. You will hear all about the historical characters, haunted mansions, vengeful spirits, monsters, folklore, and much more. All stories and events have been carefully researched to bring accurate accounts of the past and to find new haunts with content never heard before.

After the ghost walk maybe you will find your own ghost during a haunted house, barn, and hayride. Grand Geneva now has a new and improved haunted hay barn at Dan Patch Stables for 2021. Anyone brave enough (or foolish enough) can enjoy a haunted hayride with screams and terror around every corner. The first ride of the night is kid-friendly, and monsters will not be jumping out. After all rides are completed, attendees are welcome to enjoy the bonfire and crisp fall nights.

If Dan Patch Stables wasn’t scary enough for you then head over to East Troy for their Walk of Terror Haunted House. The ‘carn-evil’ is here and the freak show is ready. You’re invited to face your biggest fears as the freaks from the carnival arrive to take over and torment the town. Don’t forget that it’s also a corn maze and apple picking season!  If you are a freak yourself, well, go in disguise.
