The Highway 50 construction project will cover approximately two and a half miles of Highway 50 from Forest Street to Grand Geneva Way.
That’s, in another way, from Snake Road on the West side of Lake Geneva to the entrance to the road leading up to the Grand Geneva Resort. The construction will take place over two years. The job will include the replacement of existing pavement, replacing six traffic signals within the project, reconstruction of curbs and ramps, drainage improvements, and path construction between Curtis Street and Edwards Boulevard.
The project will have different phases starting, weather permitting, in February 2027. The first portion will be between Forest Street and Cook Street and will include repaving and utility work. This section of work will require a full road closure at times and will allow local traffic access only.
The project will then jump to Wells Street to Edwards Boulevard starting in 2027 and going through 2028. This section of work will be done in halves, allowing the road to remain open with two lanes for traffic. The downtown area of Lake Geneva parking will not be permitted along Main Street due to traffic staging and work operations. The core of Lake Geneva’s downtown, Cook Street to Wells Street, will take place in 2028. The road will be done in halves, allowing the road to remain partially open with no parking permitted.
The last section to be done will be between Edwards Boulevard and Grand Geneva Way. This area will include resurfacing and sidewalk construction with single lane closures at times.
