Looking on the Bright Side
Hillmoor is coming at all of us. That huge tract of land (hundreds of acres) located across from the church up on Catholic Hill is up for grabs. Oh, it’s not for sale anymore. The Ford Group out of Chicago bought it. A development group. It’s what they want to do with it that bears very close watching. Once again, in the space of a few months, another assault is being made on a local comprehensive building plan. The Hillmoor people want the Lake Geneva City Council to give them open season/carte-blanche to do whatever they want with the property. And that, from a developer’s way of thinking, is wise. It is currently zoned rural holding. While the comprehensive plan for the tract indicates that it is to be used only for residential and recreational purposes. In seven weeks a meeting at Lake Geneva’s city hall will determine what will be allowed to be done with the property.
This again is one of those meetings that you don’t want to miss. The Geneva Shore Report will be keeping you abreast of developments up to that point. The budget for Lake Geneva is coming. Six local concerned citizens of Lake Geneva have petitioned the city council to have the budget placed on the agenda for public discussion at the September 8th city council meeting of the whole (where anybody can come and talk to the city council about anything). Only at the once a month meeting of the whole can nonagenda items be discussed. If you haven’t attended one of those evening meetings, then you’ve been missing some interesting things, as well as the opportunity to air your opinion.
