THE RACE IS RUN, BUT NOT ENTIRELY OVER
We enter into that period of time which might best be described by a hoary old phrase: the beginning of the end, as Mr. Trump, likely and basically gives up on winning the election in either the popular vote or that of the electoral college, instead of turning his remaining tools and guns onto gambling that the whacko he appointed to the Supreme Court, as well as the diminished capacity Kavanaugh he appointed before her, are being geared to overcome every voting disparity by making totalitarian decisions in his favor. He will have a lot of time, while he is still president, to cause a whole lot more damage to the country. Is there a faction that will quietly rise up to oppose him or not? Will he be allowed, with this “scrambled eggs for brains” Supreme Court members, to basically tear apart the democratic process of the entire USA?
These are interesting times, to say the least, and it is amazing to be still living through them. What will come next week, and will the darkness of coming off daylight savings time, the entry into the depth of winter, and the increased incidence of the virus pale into mere dusky shadows compared to the true black darkness of shattered hope that may envelop the nation? Why did so many sell themselves into such a hopeless dead-end-one-way street? Why has intellect lost its way? Why has science been diminished in favor of celebrations of not knowing and deadly ignorance? These are indeed the times that try men’s souls, not to mention those of women…and children. The times…they are a-changing.
If you can’t hear the winds of change beginning to howl down your valley of life then you are either deaf, or living in the suspended animation of being a Trump supporter.
Whatever the final count of votes brings about, whether that be accepted as accurate or kicked into the courts, Donald Trump is going to be president of this country until at least January 20th of next year. It would do well to remember that as friends, family, and other important relationships are put on the line in the name of people neither you nor I are ever even going to meet in person, much less know, other than what’s reported about them by the media.
How such a contentious election can create the loss of more than jobs, money, and romantic relationships is hard to understand, but very real. It’s called the loss of family and friends because of a basic difference in foundational philosophy not generally discussed or revealed. The thoughts and desires, however wrongfully, artificially, or even really created by the media and lonely thought process, cause division as the time wears down toward the election. It looks like Biden may win handily. This is creating a lot of deep-seated anger, sadness, and grief in those who have come to believe in their very deepest of cores that Trump is some sort of returned Christ…set here to save them from disasters they don’t really understand or exist, but many have come to think really exist. As the election approaches and then passes, expect that some of your closest relationships will pass with it. People are not being very forgiving right now, and it’s going to get more serious the more time passes. And, it is going to surprise you and it’s going to be lied about. The Covid will be used, quite handily, by people you counted on to always be there, but are not going to be anymore. It’s going to be hard to take, and liberals, above all, are not going to handle that eventuality well. The very nature of the liberal heart does not allow for deep dividing disloyalty based upon political orientation. In other words, these departures of the previously ‘faithful’ are going to come by surprise and they are going to hurt deeply. It is probably already happening to you. If it isn’t, then just stand by.
What to do? Circle the wagons and close that circle to include who and what is left. It is all you have. And don’t forget the New Testament. Jesus, for the most part, experienced the same thing as he laid down the elements that would become the New Testament. That may be little solace to those who are not true believers…although it might actually make true believers of many. Do good works. Feed the poor. Visit the prisoners. Give until it hurts and then give some more. Appreciate even more the people who stick with you. There won’t be many but they’ll be enough if you make them enough. And God bless you.
