Surprising Stuff

‘Tis the season for snowmobiling.
This has been a perfect winter for snowmobile enthusiasts. The snow has just kept accumulating, with no melting between snowfalls until this week. If any snow is left after the warm weather this week, and snowmobilers can still get out and enjoy some winter fun, safety is and should always be a top priority. The trails, for the most part, are maintained and any integrity issues with them are addressed amongst fellow sledders and snowmobile clubs sharing the information online.  The snowmobile clubs are very aware of what’s happening on the trails, but accidents can happen no matter how aware and careful everyone is. Head injuries are the leading cause of snowmobile deaths and serious injuries. Each year snowmobile accidents cause approximately two hundred deaths and thousands of injuries.

Recently, in the Township of Linn, on Swamp Angel Road a young man was killed while out snowmobiling. Many trails need to cross roadways to continue. The crossing of the road and lack of vehicles and sledders not paying attention and lack of awareness is how a lot of accidents occur. There are safety tips that all snowmobilers should take seriously. Snowmobile courses are available and highly recommended for new snowmobilers. Before heading out, check the weather forecast, inspect the snowmobile, and make sure all is working correctly, and do not go out alone.  And also wear protective clothing, have a first aid kit available, stay alert, do not drink and sled, avoid frozen waterways, stay on the trail, do not speed, do not pull anything behind the snowmobile, and look out for one other.

The Town of Linn election coming soon.
Maureen Zimmerman, currently a planning commissioner, is running against Chris Jones.  Yes, the Chris Jones who attempted to have the Town of Linn dissolved, who has filed a lawsuit against the town, and has her own carefully selected ‘strawman’ running for the city clerk position.  This is the GSR’s first alert about this coming election.  The form of governmental ‘virus’ the threat that this woman and her sycophant candidate is something that has to be fought just as hard and toughly as that of the Corona Virus.  The Town of Linn is a very comfortable, well-run, and very deeply funded township, and ‘they’ are coming for it all.  Don’t let them.  Do your homework and then get ready to vote.

Place of the Week

The Fancy Fair Mall at 830 Main Street will be getting a much-needed makeover this Spring. A brighter more attractive look is long overdue. The Fancy Fair Mall at 830 Main Street will be getting a much needed makeover this Spring. A brighter more attractive look is long overdue.
