Surprising Stuff

Fingers crossed.
The Ice Castle has a tentative opening date of Friday, January 31st.  With ticket sales beginning on the 27th, this is all weather permitting, of course, and with that being said the GSR has been checking in on the ice castle out at Geneva National a couple of times a week since they started, and have not seen much progress. So far, after some progress had been made the weather warmed up and all or most of the snow and ice was lost but now they are back at the beginning and hard at work. Recently colder temps and some more typical winter weather has helped the castle progress further along. Having said that, temperatures once again are going to be in the middle and possibly even high thirties, with some sun, for the next week or so. The unseasonably warm weather has put a damper on many ice based attractions such as the Ridge’s plans to open the outdoor ice-rink, but as long as it stays frozen the rink and other activities including the outdoor ice bar are still a go. The crew from the Ice Castle is going to come and help with the other structures once the castle is complete. In response to Mother Nature’s lack of cooperation, a Canadian crew has been brought in to help. Can Canadians bring cold temperatures with them? Fingers crossed everyone.
