Surprising Stuff

The coming Hillmoor lawsuit from White River Holdings LLC.
The notice of the claim (for the city’s ‘failure’ to rezone the Hillmoor property following the submission and acceptance of the modified comprehensive plan last year) was filed by White River back in mid-July of 2020.  The city had six months from that date to ‘disallow’ the claim, which it, rather apparently, did not do.  Disallowing the claim would have had the effect, given the city denied the claim, which it did, of shortening the statute of limitations period down to six months from the three-year period normally required. Since the statute of limitations runs three years, it would appear the city is in for a long ride, while the threat of another giant lawsuit sits over its head, like a heavy iron anvil, just waiting to drop at any time.  The city has been meeting in secret session with the White River folks (or whatever they might be called and it’s now mid-March of 2021.

Nobody’s talking, as far as the city is concerned, other than to say that discussions (in secret) remain underway.  They are going to either endeavor to persevere or keep on keeping on.  It is time for the city to take that property back under the law allowed by eminent domain, or at least threaten to do so and then purchase the tract at a reasonably fair price.  The city representatives and attorney are ’bobbing and weaving’ away in secret, or so they secretly say.

Covid-19 Vaccinations.
More vaccines are coming. With the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine approved and made in our own backyard the eligibility is changing fast. As of March 29th, those with a co-morbidity, any medical condition, as listed by the CDC, will be eligible to sign up for a vaccine in Walworth County. It also looks like just a few weeks later, all those over 16 will be able to sign up for a shot. For more information, please check out:

The local health department in Elkhorn has the latest information, as well as an easy sign-up process for an appointment. There is a link on the website to check which co-morbidities make the cut. The vaccines have proven to be safe and effective. We encourage you to get inoculated so we can say goodbye to this virally induced period of intense stress and pain as soon as possible.
