SURPRISING STUFF
Mayor Charlene Klein.
A great cultured and educated woman. Not the best politician in the world, however. Too kind, too straight, and too direct. The mayor didn’t like our story about MSI and the MSI attempt to pay for the wedding couple’s expenses if they’d get married somewhere else (in order to give MSI time to finish the project without incurring the huge budget over-runs it experienced because of having to rush). She didn’t believe the story.
That story was vetted from high sources within and without MSI, however. The Geneva Shore Report is quite used to being fact-checked and called into account. When the editorial/journalistic staff is found to be wrong, then the GSR apologizes, and not in small print on the last page either. This time the GSR was not wrong so there’s no apology.
However, the sources for that story asked for confidentiality and confidentiality is exactly what they get from this newspaper, and we don’t care whether the request for source identity comes from officials or other members of the public. We do not reveal sources to law enforcement either or respond to subpoenas for such information. Charlene Klein is a great mayor and that is wonderful for Lake Geneva and all its residents, visitors, owners, renters, or whomever. The GSR will continue to support her efforts but criticize every move she makes along the way. That’s just part of our mission.
The Time Change is this Sunday, November 7th.
Don’t forget that this Sunday daylight savings time concludes at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. On Sunday, when you get up from sleep, the clocks will have fallen back one hour. Everyone gets an extra hour of sleep, if that is how they choose to use this ‘catch up’ time. The days will continue to get shorter, and so there are only a few days left where sunset will be after 6 p.m. Time change used to be a big deal, and friendly reminders were needed, as clocks and watches required manual time change. In the modern era almost, everyone has automatic time changes that are performed automatically by semi-intelligent computers, half-smart phones, and even assumed-to-be smartwatches.
Of course, there are a few items in some households that may still require the physical attention of a human being. Also, don’t forget it may take a few days to adjust to the time difference as human bodies get used to going to bed and getting up at a certain time. Get ready for what’s coming. Sunset on December 21st, the winter solstice, will be at 4:26 p.m. Yikes!
