The Bright Side
When you think of the holidays, you think of joyful times with family and friends. However, holidays can also be extremely hard for some, tapping into emotions dealing with family members, loved ones, or friends who have passed. Derrick Funeral home has created a beautiful Angel Tree program to give families something to smile about, a place to gather with others memorializing family members, and close friends who are no longer with them during the holiday season. The ceremony is a gathering with others sharing the same experience. Local clergy, music, the lighting of the Memorial Tree, fellowship and refreshments will be included. The Holiday Memorial tree is a program turning sadness and absence into the warmth and loving memories, remembering loved one in a positive light.
The Memorial Tree is adorned with over 3,000 white lights, and glass angel ornaments with the names of family member that the Derrick Funeral Home had taken care of. Family members come in the week before the lighting of the tree ceremony and place the ornament on the tree so they know exactly where it is. Family members can return the week before Christmas to pick up the ornaments and take them home and place them on their own trees. Any ornaments not picked up will remain on the tree until the second Sunday in January. This year’s ceremony has already taken place, but people are always welcome to stop by and check out the Memorial Tree still adorned with beautiful angel ornaments and lights, at 800 Park Avenue in Lake Geneva.
The tree is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful way to remember loved ones.
