The Bright Side

The Episcopal Church on Broad and Geneva Street gets to join the Farmers Market success.
The most salient point brought up at the plan commission meeting of July 15 was disregarded completely, as the committee gave unanimous approval to the church. The Episcopal Church will now be issued a conditional use permit to be part of the already established and successful farmers market already fully functional on Broad Street, stretching north and south. The church’s participation will allow that market to stretch around the corner to head west on Geneva Street. The point made at the meeting that was ignored?

What about the product? The current farmers market is slowly transitioning into some sort of flea market, as novelty items and craft stuff have begun replacing fruit, vegetable, and other fresh food vendors. What can be done to prevent that kind of transition, or is that a direction the people would rather prefer?
