THE BRIGHT SIDE
Delavan issued a Silver Alert last Tuesday afternoon for a missing resident. Kilkenny was last seen around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday on Burr Oak Court in Delavan.
Officials say he went for a walk from his home and was last seen heading south on North Seventh Street. According to the alert, Kilkenny often goes on walks on nature trails. He has a history of short-term memory loss. He was found about 24 hours after he went missing in a marshy, wooded area. He covered himself in mud to help keep himself cool until help arrived. Multiple local agencies supported Delavan emergency personnel in finding Kilkenny. They used multiple drones and did a ground search until he was found. The look of pure happiness and appreciation was evident on his face. He was treated by EMS and is expected to make a full recovery.
Tourism is now a billion-dollar industry in Walworth County.
This record-breaking milestone makes tourism a billion-dollar industry in the county, with direct visitor spending accounting for the vast majority of this. The region topped the milestone in 2025, according to data released today by Gov. Tony Evers and the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. The data indicates continued strong growth in the local and regional tourism sector, with total economic impact rising more than 5 percent.
The Lake Geneva region leads the way, accounting for 72.4 percent of Walworth County’s annual tourism impact. Visitor spending generates substantial state and local tax revenue, which saves every Walworth County household about $1,339 each year in taxes that would otherwise be needed to fund public services. The visitor economy supports roughly 7,500 local jobs across attractions, hospitality, and retail. Lake Geneva and the region expect growth trends to continue.
