In the spirit of this spooky and haunting season, explore Lake Geneva’s historic Oak Hill Cemetery.
This cemetery is a landmark on the Wisconsin Registry of Historic Places, and was built by one of the country’s prominent landscape architects; Horace W.S. Cleveland in the 1880s. While enjoying a walk through the cemetery there will be plenty offered about the lives and stories of the city’s former residents while standing next to their final resting places. Many of the individuals who helped shape and found the Town of Geneva and the City of Lake Geneva are buried in this cemetery as well as many of Chicago’s prominent and wealthy former residents. This tour is the perfect setting for the Halloween season. The tour starts at the cemetery on Saturday at 5 p.m., the cost is only $15 per person.

Richmond Café, in Richmond, Illinois.
Ever since the GSR discovered this wonderful oasis of warmth and great cheer, the customer base of this coffee shop/café has been growing.  An omelet for six bucks, another dollar for ham or sausage?  Who does that?  The ambiance is extraordinary, and it is so pleasing to see the place so full now that when GSR staff pull up to spend time there’s no place to sit!  Not all the time, however, so don’t be put off.
