Notice submitted by Dick Malmin, Lake Geneva Activist
PARKING!!! The parking meters should be self sufficient. They make enough to support the life of them. Not in Lake Geneva! The City uses the parking funds as the piggy bank for whatever. The last thing they use the meter funds for IS PARKING!!
I watched the Jan. 27th meeting. They (City) took money out of parking to pay for employee insurance. They ball parked what they hoped would cover the cost. Then they went shopping and found cheaper insurance. They did not return ALL the remaining funds back to PARKING
The City knows how much the meters cost to buy, to maintain and to replace. Money for all that should be in the parking account. Now the City can not afford to buy ALL of the meters Sylvia said the City needed to reach the goal the City set for her to meet. The City is still talking about closing Wrigley Drive. Removing that parking revenue. Just who thinks that is a wise choice? I forget how many parking stalls are on Wrigley Drive. I never counted them. If Mayor Hartz is in favor of closing Wrigley Drive, MAY I MAKE A SUGGESTION— Mayor Hartz can put meters in the parking lot for his restaurant!!! Is that where the meters from Wrigley Drive go?
They need to come up with a solution for the parking problem, NOT MAKE IT WORSE. RESOLVE the problem instead of compounding it AND complaining the City is low on money and stealing funds from what should pay for itself.
Thank you for your input, Cynthia.
