THE DIVINE RIGHT OF KINGS
The Divine Right of Kings is the notion that royalty is given divine sanction to rule. In the words of England’s King James I (r. 1603–1625): “The state of monarchy is the supremist thing upon earth: For kings are not only God’s lieutenants upon earth, and sit upon God’s throne, but even by God himself they are called Gods.” Of course, the idea of kings and queens being agents of God goes back much further, and all have at their foundations the self-glorifying and selfish notion that somehow some sort of importance upon earth, whether measured by the possession of money (as if being used today), by title or by position in government or religion, places certain humans above all others and makes them as ridiculously ‘infallible’ as the Catholic pope is supposed to be, or his equivalent in the Mormon church.
What we are seeing today, with the rise of populism, wherein certain charismatic leaders begin bellowing their own self-importance at the top of their lungs, is a return to the early times of James I in England, and it’s not being bellowed only by such organized leaders. The American population has Trump, while the Russians have Putin. In monetary positions, America has Musk, Gates, and Bezos, while the Russians in such positions are called oligarchs. This tendency to view oneself as above all others is not limited by any designated area of performance or even inheritance. Bret Favre, Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, all sports figures blabbed about all the time on every communications media source, follow this same, although many times unspoken, mantra.
This divine right has been with us for such a long time, but only the new technologies have allowed for it to be shared now by so many human beings. The foundations of the divine right belief system are all about personal gain. The divine right, supposedly followed by nobody anymore (Winston Churchill actually wanted Great Britain to adopt the belief officially at one time in Great Britain’s history), is all over the place. Modern evangelical Christianity has powerfully supported this seemingly extinct belief system and allows for very few humans to be consecrated as better than all others.
‘The Davos Man.’ If you haven’t heard this phrase, then you are not fully informed about how a certain small group of humans, mostly aged, wealthy men, meet once a year in Davos, Switzerland, to make decisions about what is happening in the world. A person invited to this august group of humans- Trump, Bush, Gates, Bezos, and so many more- is now known colloquially as a Davos Man. If you were in doubt about who the men and women are behind the advertised leaders of just about every country and business, well, you no longer should be. This world is being run by the wealthiest of humans at the expense of just about every other human on the planet.
They truly believe, along with almost all the titular heads who are allowed to be ‘known’ to be running things, that they were all gifted by God to be what they are and do what they are doing. There is no evil in what they decide, order, or do. God dispenses His justice and mercy down, not upon these Davos Men, but by making these things that they do the result of His approved grace. There is nothing too evil for these people to consider once they accept the divine rights of kings as their explanation for low-life and self-serving behavior. They also believe that God allows for the transfer of the money, land, and power instruments to the children of these special humans.
Russia is being run by a God-appointed ‘king,’ as is Hungary, Turkey, North Korea, China, and so many more. This divine right of kings’ belief system is more powerful for sleeping than any drug or mechanical device. These horrid-acting humans can sleep at night because they believe they have been specially selected by God to be what they are and do anything they want to do. This is the same belief system that allows them to have mirrors around them without avoiding seeing their own visages for fear of seeing ‘Dorian Gray’ peering back out of the glass at them.
The next time you turn on the television and watch Fox, NBC, CNN, or even MSNBC, think of the outrages currently and openly being committed by these Davos Men and now understand why and how they go about doing what they believe is God’s work. God gave humanity the devil (at least in the Christian belief system), but He is much more arcane in his practice than to simply have the devil appear in red costume with a tail and talons. No, God gave us the devil and, using his very dry and interesting sense of humor, allowed that they would appear as Davos Men, rather than the whorey old curmudgeon of animators and artists.
The world is about to go through a very serious period where nothing is what it seems, and everything is on the table to be taken, used, stolen, or simply discarded. Those decisions about what to do with those things, your things among them, will be made by versions of those Davos men described here. All of human life is based upon mythology and belief, and never forget that it is most common for these people who succeed in gaining such power over others to respond to the divine right of kings over time, and your subjugation to them isn’t intended to be that it’s cloaked in care and safety for your welfare. Conduct yourself accordingly. There was a space travel epic series about a family Lost in Space, and a very famous line was delivered by the robot in that series, and here it is for you: “Danger, Will Robinson, Danger.”
The application of ‘Divine Right’ is well observable in our current political and practical leadership situation. Neither the President nor Elon Musk likely feel any guilt at all over cancelling USAID and allowing tens of thousands of foreign children to starve to death. They knew what would happen but had already come to believe that God had given them the power and a belief system that allowed them to believe that God was instructing their actions and taking the children into his heavenly care. The Secretary of Defense suffers from the same ‘God-given’ ability, or disability if you prefer to judge it, in that he has ordered the execution of many seamen off the coast of Venezuela, even to the extent of witnessing struggling survivors in the water and having them killed. The men and women he orders to perform the actual attacks are not so lucky and will no doubt suffer tremendous post-traumatic stress over time. Those who acquire the Divine Right do not appear to suffer such a later effect, although no one knows what they may suffer later, after death.
