Surprising Stuff
Televised council meeting goes dark.
Channel 25, the city’s “sunshine” TV channel that televises Lake Geneva City Council Meetings went dead on Monday night. Could it be that the station went dark because it feared residents would be sympathetic to the heartfelt pleas by city employees, asking the council to cancel the draconian cuts and severe cost increases to their health insurance program? For them health insurance isn’t just a benefit, but an integral part of their long-standing and long-lasting wage agreement with the city.
Fortunately, the Council agreed on Monday night to look at other options before taking action.
This is a red hot issue, and it’s not an issue about money.
It’s an issue of honesty, integrity and honor.

Popeye’s Restaurant—an update.
The continuing odyssey of the Popeye’s Restaurant violence. Dimitri Anagnos, the son of the owner (who happens to be a wonderful woman) is no longer managing Popeye’s. Veronica has been appointed to run the place and she is, apparently, a very level-headed and customer service oriented sort. Dimitri himself continues to hold the liquor license on the place, at least until something happens with his coming court case on the 6th of October. Since Dimitri, according to the requirements of his supervised release, must not be in attendance where alcohol is served, could not continue running the restaurant. So far, none of the employees who witnessed the violent event have been fired from the restaurant.
Jamie Wollman, the young man who was assaulted, remains in stable condition, suffering from severe headaches and healing deep bruises. No civil action against either Dimitri or the restaurant has yet been filed by representatives of the young man. The restaurant has agreed to pay all medical expenses Jamie incurs in his course of treatment for his injuries. Dimitri’s whereabouts are unknown, since the court did not see fit to either require he surrender his passport, or stay within the borders of the county or the state.
Johnstown Meats Remodel Opening Soon

Johnstown Meats. The building is going slow because the building interior was so old and in such bad shape. The reconstruction is easier than getting all the necessary permits to do the job according to how Walworth wants such work done. The owners are hard at it.
