Little Gems

Barrett Memorial Library in Williams Bay has a brand new 1700 square foot addition that opened right before summer.
The addition enables the library to involve more children in its summer programs, and also allows the computer room to be moved to a quieter location with easier access to the printer and help from the staff. The library has created some great new cozy reading areas with furniture that was made in Walworth at Integra. Members of the staff were thrilled to be offered a chance to check out the factory and watch the furniture actually being made. The library also has a brand new community room in the lower level that the Historical Society of Williams Bay is using this month for a display of Williams Bay’s past, in preparation for the upcoming centennial celebration in October. The addition, library, and staff are all great so make sure to stop in and check out the library’s improvements and meet the staff.

Pearce’s Farm Stand has a lot of great activities to look forward to this season.
Saturday, September 14th and Sunday, September 15th, are customer appreciation days. The farm is hosting a variety of activities, such as hayrides to the pumpkin patch, jumping bales with a slide, tractor-pulled wagon rides, a corn maze, helicopter rides, a lookout tower, a human hamster wheel, music, dancing and free corn on the cob on Sunday. The theme of this year’s corn maze is “Alice in Dairyland.” The maze will be open Saturdays and Sundays through October 28th. The Pearce’s are a wonderful family and big supporters of the community. They enjoy giving back to the community and will be hosting a “Farm to Table” dinner, as a fundraiser for Alice in Dairyland, on Sunday, September 22nd.

The new brewery on Geneva Street has received its federal and state licenses, and the owners are hard at work getting the building ready to open.
The place will open with lots of upgrades. A new roof is done, patio work is in progress, and the inside is being remodeled. The brewing equipment is in, and the first batch of beer is expected to be ready sometime in October. Things are progressing nicely and everyone is looking forward to the opening which will be soon.

This year’s Fat Tire Ride of Lake Geneva will be on Saturday, September 14th.
This special bicycle event is a fun bicycle ride on paved roads around Geneva Lake. It offers two starting points, one at Champ’s on Main Street and the other at The Ridge out on Highway 50. It’s a ‘go at your own pace’ ride, with a 21.5-mile trail with rest stops along the way. The ride is held rain or shine and travels through Lake Geneva, Fontana and Williams Bay. This is a great opportunity to get some great views of the lake and wonderfully healthy exercise.
