Living Here

Celebrate the good times right here in Downtown Lake Geneva.
Twenty-five years of great winter fun is a true reason for celebration. The US National Snow Sculpting begins today at 11 a.m., as well as many other wonderful Winterfest events. The fifteen teams of sculptors will work day, and sometimes night, to create their ice sculptures as amazed spectators watch. The competition ends on Saturday at 11 a.m., at which time judging will begin. Winterfest 2020 has added many new activities and events to this year’s schedule, including free movies at the Geneva Four Theater. Screenings will include Fargo, The Shining, Frozen Two, and Ground Hog’s Day.

The addition of ice sculptures along the streets of downtown Lake Geneva will be a wonderful way to bring the businesses in on the fun and offer much more for the spectators to enjoy. Of course, the traditional Cocoa Crawl will be on Friday and many of the shops will have hot cocoa, chocolate treats, or both. Some of the new and exciting events added this year are the Winter Ghost Walk around Lake Geneva, which includes a special Chills Ghost Walk on Thursday, January 28th, and begins following the Geneva Theater’s free screening of The Shining. The Riviera Beach will not be left out of the winter fun and will be offering fireside s’mores, fire spinner performers, and the human-dog sled races. A laser light show finale in front of the Riviera is expected to be a show stopper on Saturday, February 1st at 6 p.m. Expect all the local resorts, hotels, shops, and restaurants to have many more additional events to add to the mix. All this will be sure to make this a Winterfest to remember.

Lake Geneva Winterfest 2020

Chocolate overload.
Downtown Lake Geneva is joining in the Winterfest fun more than ever this year. Of course, the Annual Cocoa Crawl will be this Friday, January 31st, 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. New this year businesses are sponsoring ice sculptors to adorn the downtown for added enjoyment and excitement. The streets of Lake Geneva will be full of excitement with spectacular ice sculptors to enjoy while sampling hot cocoa and treats, and shopping all at the same time, like a scene right from a hallmark movie. The Cocoa Crawl is a favorite event hosted by the BID (Business Improvement District) during Winterfest week. Over thirty businesses are participating, although if you check for a list, not every business made it on, so be sure to head down all streets downtown. Stop in at The Bottle Shop on Main Street or Franks Original on Broad Street to pick up a map and a list of what each participant is offering. Many of the shops are offering unique and yummy versions of the traditional hot cocoa drink but a few wonderful places are offering a sweet treat. Check out the Thrift-In on Center Street for its dessert version of egg with bacon.
