Living Here

The Village of Williams Bay just rescinded the park permit they’d approved earlier to allow the Muck-Suck rally there.
On Monday night they voted to rescind, and the Muck-Suck has to find a new place to gather on that side of the lake. The Geneva Shore Report believes that was a wise decision, given the just how controversial the Muck-Suck run has become. A bright, albeit late in the game, note here about the Lake Geneva Conservancy. The Lake Geneva Conservancy has gone through board chairman after chairman, each more caring about lake shore property owners, than the last, without regard for the conserving of anything for the community in general. And then Karen Yancey was installed. She’s the new executive director of that crippled old organization. It would appear that the outfit is about to be healed. She stood up and read a great letter condemning the coming run and defending those who live around the lake, as well as all the residents that enjoy the path even if they don’t own the property the easement is allowed over and through.

Missed notification. What happened, very quietly, in the municipal building last week that’s gone unnoticed, except by those people waiting for the Lake Geneva Planning Commission to approve of their projects? Notifications have to be sent out thirty days in advance of any considerations put before the commission. The notifications did not make it out in time. Instead of this causing a day or two delay, it causes instead, by ordinance, a month long delay. The commission must wait until another month goes by before it can consider those things it might have passed in this coming month. This is not meaningful to the whole community, but it is intensely meaningful to the few people effected.

Phone Booths Needed?

No Phone Booths

What happened to phone booths? We need them back! They don’t need to have phone in them. We need them for privacy when we use our cell phones. This woman demonstrates how hard it is to find a place of privacy to talk, or merely a place where others won’t be bothered by her conversation. And Superman needs phone booths too!
