Living Here

Lake Geneva runs a great Farmers Market every Thursday in front of the Horticultural Hall from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Unfortunately, this is not the most convenient time for some people to attend between their jobs, school activities and overall busy schedules. If you are looking for another option, Burlington has a market every Thursday from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Historic Wehmhoff Square on Pine and Washington Street. Also, the Geneva Outdoor Market is open at the corner of Highway H and County Road NN on Saturday mornings from 8 a.m. through 12 p.m. This is the third year the market has run, and it has continued to grow every year. A lot of the same wonderful vendors that participate in the Lake Geneva downtown Farmer’s Market on Thursday are also a part of the Saturday outdoor market. The first of June finds two more outdoor farmers markets opening one in Fontana and one in Elkhorn. The wonderful Pierce’s Farm Stand opens in mid-July.

Farmers markets are the best and we have a lot of great ones in the area.

Memorial Day is observed the last Monday of May.
This year it falls on Monday, May, 27th.  This day is all about honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S.  Military. Memorial Day was originally called Decoration Day, starting right after the Civil War, and became a Federal Holiday in 1971.  On this day you will find many people visiting cemeteries and memorials. It has also become the unofficial start to the summer season. Family gatherings, cookouts, and parades are a big part of this three-day weekend. Lake Geneva will have its annual parade on Monday, beginning at 10 a.m. on the corner of Broad and Wisconsin and ends at the Brunk Pavilion with a traditional Memorial Day Ceremony. If the event is canceled due to rain the Memorial Ceremony will take place in the Lake Geneva Middle School at 10:30 a.m.

Echo Park in Burlington will be joining in as always with the Annual Jaycee’s Arts and Craft Fair.
Saturday and Sunday, May 25th and 26th, located across the street from the Chocolate Fest fun. The beautiful park will be full of food, fun, and shopping for everyone. Over a hundred vendors will be participating and this is a free event, so it’s the perfect place for a stroll on your way to or from the festival.
