Our Place

So, for right now, the sidewalks outside of merchant establishments will not be shoveled by the city.
It’s still up to the merchants, in downtown Lake Geneva, to shovel their own walks after a storm. That might seem okay to many people…until one is to consider the age of the business owner, the physical capability of that owner, whether that owner is even there following a snowstorm.  Mr. Earle, whom the Geneva Shore Report has termed “The Duke of Earle,” continues to hold that his department handling such snow removal work in other areas, does not have either the manpower or the equipment to do the job.  The Lake Geneva City Council heard that set of excuses and quietly nodded its collective head.  Instead of replacing Mr. Earle, the city will simply let things be the way they have been under that man’s control.  The former head of the street department was fired over losses suffered in salt supplies.  How can the city get this convicted criminal back (Carstensen)?  He’d have simply told the city council that he’d get the job done, and he would have, even if that job cost more than planned.
