Beachside Author Fest.
For the fourth year in a row, the Lake Geneva Public Library is mounting a local author event: The Beachside Author Fest. This Saturday, July 14, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm, in Library Park, many local adult and children’s authors will be gathered to speak about their work, sell and sign their books, give readings, talk about being an author and answer questions. Authors will include Robb Chase, Pam Meyers, Sonette Tippens, Don Ziebell, the Diabolical Dames of Mystery and many more.
Everyone is welcome and the event will carry on rain or shine!
Away all boats!
The looming boat lift problem in Lake Geneva waters around the Riviera Pier has gone back into hiding. Doug Skates, the head of the Piers and Harbors Committee, tried to spearhead a new ordinance that would have required every pier renter along the shore of Lake Geneva to be forced to put in a lift for each slip. The lifts are calculated to cost a minimum of two thousand dollars per slip, and the renters would have been responsible for purchasing and then putting them in. When a bunch of boat people showed up at the council meeting on Monday night Mr. Skates changed his tune and became the voice of rationality in assuring that the matter was to be referred back to the committee to die a slow and silent death. Nice work city council and Mr. Skates in particular. That Skate’s vote to save the Meeting of the Whole also gets him a temporary pass with the staff of the GSR, not that he truly cares or even notices.
Fun on the Fourth
