Surprising Stuff

Where to go?
Not wishing to deter attendance to the Ice Castle and the Ice Rink planned for the winter season, because the Ice Castle and reinstatement of a city ice rink are the best winter ideas since the snow sculptures, but will the city for the first time in winter have heated public restroom facilities in The Riviera, the Visitor Center in Flat Iron Park and heat the outdoor library restrooms open to visitors this winter?

Are the restrooms to be locked up, as they have been every winter season, blocking those facilities and leaving visitors, residents, and tourists no place to go, or at best offer them a cold frozen seat in a portable outhouse.

One of life’s more annoying moments is when you are in a public place and need to use a restroom where there are none, or where they are all locked up, or too disgusting or unsafe to use. The least that the city should do is put up a warning for those entering on Highway 50; “Heated Public Restrooms, but closed for the winter.” So, what kind of “welcome” will the City of Lake Geneva have for tourist visiting the Ice Castle and the Ice Rink? Clean heated restrooms, or at best a frozen portable outhouse (porta potty). If the City of Lake Geneva wants to be a favored winter tourist attraction, then it needs to act like one. In this cold weather when you sit in a restaurant and look out the window, remember the sign on the front door that reads “Restrooms for customer use only.”

As you watch someone running by The Riviera, you may wonder if maybe their running has more incentive than simply exercise.

Cindy Flower, the small, bright and wonderful flower of Lake Geneva.
Cindy is an alderperson in Lake Geneva. Cindy moved to have the city council meetings changed from Monday nights to Tuesday nights and then to have the Finance Committee meeting set for Mondays. That will allow the council to evaluate what the finance committee decides the night before. Wow. Smarts. The city council has to approve this change so let’s see how much political horsepower Cindy can bring to bear by the next council meeting. At least she’s not sitting up at the raised platform and snoozing. Nice work Cindy.
