The  Bright Side

Black Brick Landscaping.
We’ve written about this operation before.  They don’t just do landscaping. They do lawns, faster, cheaper, and more dependably than anybody the GSR has found around the lake. They plow snow.  They put in brick walks, build sheds and so much more.  This newspaper has advertisements on the back page, but this is not one of those, and this newspaper does not substantially promote businesses unless they perform in extraordinary ways.   The phone number listed here is for the CEO of that company.  The company is based out of Harvard but almost a hundred percent of its business is around Geneva Lake.

If you use them then please let the GSR know how you feel they performed.  This is not a ‘kidding’ article.  The season is here for bringing lawns, shrubs, trees, and flowers back into life.  Possibly the trimming of trees is the most important thing to consider right now since so many property owners make the dangerous mistake of getting up on high ladders with chainsaws.  Don’t do it.

Call Amando at (847) 814-4295.  Out of the five stars the GSR gives for a performance rating this is the only outdoor service of its kind that gets all five stars.

Public Schools are a big deal. Referendums are a big deal.
The local school board utilized the referendum procedure in the spring election. Public schools are utilized by the majority of the population and are in need of funds to continue offering quality education to the children. The Lake Geneva-Genoa City Union High School District asked voters for approval of two referendums on the April 6, 2021 ballot, and The Lake Geneva Joint #1 School Board is looking for approval of one referendum (they passed). The referendums are an effort to provide recurring funds to maintain current district programming and services and cover renovations needed to existing schools. The recurring funds will be used for ongoing operational expenses, technology, and safety upgrades, and to maintain current educational programming. Renovations at the Badger High School will consist of updates at the facility, including safety improvements, technology, and infrastructure updates.
